The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities signed a memorandum of understanding with Tamkeen Company for Sustainable Tourism Development, to cooperate in providing consultations, conducting scientific research and studies, exchanging expertise and technical information, and implementing projects to develop standards for quality performance and increase the competitiveness of the tourism sector within the framework of the concept and applications of sustainable tourism development.
The memorandum, which was signed at the Ministry’s headquarters, today, Sunday, by the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Nayef Hamidi Al-Fayez, and the Honorary Chairman of the Advisory Council of Tamkeen, Dr. Talib Al-Rifai, to strengthen the bonds of cooperation and joint coordination between the two parties.
The signing was attended by Dr. Alia Bouran, the company’s advisory board chairman, the company’s advisory board member Michel Nazzal, the company’s chairman Dr. Suzy Bouran, the company’s board of directors, engineer Sidqi Hamdan, and the minister’s advisor, Hisham Al-Abadi.
The terms of the memorandum include holding joint training courses and workshops for the local community and individuals in the field of entrepreneurship to reach the ultimate goal of developing their capabilities, increasing self-employment and jobs, and diversifying the tourism product while preserving local heritage and achieving sustainable environmental and tourism impact. It also includes cooperation in conducting studies, exchanging information and technical expertise, which contributes to developing the performance of public and private sector institutions and civil society institutions and increasing the competitiveness of the tourism sector, in addition to developing sustainability standards in the sector to increase the production efficiency of tourism facilities and enhance the competitiveness of services provided in accordance with international standards and local trends.
