Signing a memorandum of understanding between “EJABI” and “Tamkeen” Al-Khudari: Strengthening the linkage between the industrial and tourism sectors contributes to creating job opportunities for Jordanians.

The Chairman of the Advisory Board of Tamkeen Company for Sustainable Tourism Development, Dr. Alia Hatoua Bouran, indicated that the establishment of Tamkeen Company came due to the importance of tourism in supporting the Jordanian economy, especially since Jordan enjoys incomparable tourism potentials, and if it is well managed, it will contribute to the growth of the Jordanian economy and at the same time maintain Environment and sustainable heritage.

She added that although tourism contributed 14% of the gross domestic product in 2019, there are negative repercussions of tourism growth on the environment and the vital system, especially since restaurants and hotels are considered the largest drain on energy and water in Jordan compared to other sectors, not to mention an increase Pollution resulting from mismanagement of waste and its accumulation, as its proceeds amounted to more than 186 thousand tons, in contrast, only a small part of this waste amounted to (2566) tons was recycled, which confirms the importance of this agreement by addressing the problem of waste resulting from tourism and industrial activities And transforming them into innovative and competitive industries that are reused in the local economy.

The Executive Director of Ejabi Haitham Al-Faour indicated that this memorandum includes the provision of Ejabi Institute training and consultancy in the field of business administration (full scope), business incubators and accelerators, project management, optimal use of energy and water resources, waste management, sustainability of natural resources, biodiversity and local heritage, and the achievement of agile management. Operations, innovation and entrepreneurship targeting the travel and tourism sector in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in general, and the industrial sector in particular, to serve the development goals of the two sectors.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors and the founder of Tamkeen Company, Dr. Suzy Hatog, explained that “Tamkeen: is a non-profit company, established in 2021, and concerned with activating the role of the Jordanian community and civil organizations in tourism and development work and developing the tourism sector by promoting scientific research and studies and raising the capabilities of Jordanian youth for entrepreneurial work development, national heritage development, activating a culture of volunteer work and innovation, and preserving a sustainable environment in cooperation and coordination between local community institutions and international institutions to achieve sustainable tourism development, activate the transformation towards a green economy in Jordan, and face the challenges of climate change.
